The National Agency for Science and Technology Infrastructure (NASENI) was established to nurture appropriate and dynamic science and engineering infrastructure as a base for driving home initiated and sustained industrialisation, job creation, and economic well-being. It promptly recognised the rapidly growing potential of renewable energy to serve as a viable and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, and swiftly set up the NASENI Solar Energy Limited (NSEL) to support initiatives in that area.
This week, AcreLog, our associate company, met with the leadership of NSEL to discuss a partnership that will help them unlock their full potential. It was a very constructive meeting. Both parties were excited and eager to formalise the relationship and kick-off working together as soon as possible. Some notable highlights from the meeting are:
- They discussed extensively about the history and current scale of operations of NSEL. Getting insights on how it manufactured its first solar panel in 2011, its operations/ presence in all 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria, its range of solar solutions, and the trainings it provides.
- AcreLog in turn briefed the organisitation on its rich global and local experience in the energy sector and essential complimentary industries.
- NSEL touched on several bottlenecks that had hindered their full effectiveness. Most notable among them were poor funding, struggles with land allocation, high operating and logistics costs, and difficulty in establishing partnerships with public and private organisations.
- AcreLog reiterated its full commitment to helping them remove these bottlenecks by supporting them with technical capability, governmental relations, fund raising and other key areas.
- They were aligned on the necessity for NSEL to succeed, as that will reverberate across the economy; driving growth for many organisations, and improving the quality of life for citizens.
